MMC Manufacturing Design Engineer
The Manufacturing Design Engineer’s main objective of the post is to provide a technical design to manufacture implementation service to the business in line with the modelling and creation of relevant design drawings.
The Manufacturing design Engineer will identify gaps and develop robust plans as to mitigate any potential risks.

— Assist and determine how the product should be manufactured from design to manufacture.
— Solve design issues and communicate with the manufacturing team accordingly.
— Produce detailed engineering drawings as required.
— To project manage delivery of the new facilities, liaising with equipment suppliers and managing installation within the factory.
— Forecasting manufacturing future capabilities and capacities in line with building structure and direct associated resources to enhance manufacturing outputs.
— Be able to plan and design product against Production & Design Plans.
— Determine and designing short-, medium- and long-term production plans and objectives and monitor performance against such.
— Communicate with shop floor and be able to effectively understand and run production line.
— Ensuring all works and documentation is carried out and recorded in accordance with the company quality systems.
— Ensure all WES documentation is updated in accordance with the relevant manufacturing DWG’s.
— Identify potential risks/gaps and develop robust plans to mitigate.
— Identify, communicate, and implement improvement opportunities.
— Identify cost reduction, quality and service improvement opportunities and provide suggestions for improvement.
— Standardise and document production processes for the Department.
— Challenge existing practices and identify best practice.
— Drive a culture of continuous improvement across the business.
— Liaise with internal contacts and external suppliers to improve manufacturing operations.
Qualifications and experience
— Mechanical / Electrical Engineering Degree qualified
— Design Experience
— Relevant design qualification or relevant experience
— Strong experience of production/manufacturing environment
— Experience of root cause analysis processes and techniques
— Excellent IT Skills
— Experience of working within a modular construction/manufacturing environment desirable
— BSc Degree in construction industry desirable
— Knowledge of managing a manufacturing facility
— Knowledge of planning systems
— Knowledge of supply chain
— Ability to interpret/devise technical drawings
— Knowledge of construction material and process
— Knowledge of building structures and improvement implementation for future growth and capacity
— Knowledge of appropriate IT Software packages – Modelling done in REVIT
— Knowledge of construction industry and UK Building Regulations
— Knowledge of British standards and BIM standards preferred desirable
— Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
— Ability to plan and organise workloads in a pressured environment
— Analytical skills to present information in a clear and concise manner
— Ability to enforce standards and process
— Ability to maintain focus during periods of high pressure
