From East to West Midlands – the 1000th house by Urban Splash milestone module is on route to Birmingham
The modern housebuilder House by Urban Splash has created its 1,000th module at its housebuilding factory in Alfreton today – a milestone pod which is now on route to Port Loop in Birmingham where it will be craned into place as a completed home.
House by Urban Splash began creating its innovative new homes using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) in 2016. The process sees each storey of a home precision engineered before completing as a single module – often described as a modular pod.
Hundreds of specially trained operators work in the East Midlands factory, overseeing a slick production line to create each storey before they are then transported by road to create a House by Urban Splash home.
The process puts the Midlands at the heart of sustainable construction, with Town House offering a more energy efficient home thanks to lower embodied carbon that is around 60% less than traditional new build homes. Chris Shaw is delivery director at House by Urban Splash and explained: “This is a huge milestone for our growing business as we maintain our mission to keep creating well-designed homes using new construction techniques.
