House by Urban Splash newsletter - March 2022

15 March 2022

Welcome to the March 2022 House by Urban Splash newsletter.

Each month, we’ll be bringing interior design stories, property and lifestyle blogs, interviews, and competitions straight to your inbox.

This month, we've sat down with Urban Splash co-founder and creative director Jonathan Falkingham to discuss what it means to live well by design, and what he wishes more people knew about modular! There's news of more new Row House homes coming to Port Loop in Birmingham and a change to win a limited edition print from Tom Pigeon Studio in our March competition. Read on to find out more.

‘Live well by design’ is our manifesto, it’s our promise to the people who live in our homes and neighbourhoods.

What does it really mean to ‘live well by design’

Live well by design’ is our manifesto, it’s our promise to the people who live in our homes and neighbourhoods.

But what exactly does it mean and how does ‘good design’ shape the way we live?

In our latest blog, we answer these questions focussing on the types of design that make us feel good, and the importance of the relationship between our homes, the people who live inside them, and the wider neighbourhoods they belong to.

Our newest Row House homes at Port Loop in Birmingham

A closer look at our newest Row House homes

Row House is our ultra-modern take on a classic terraced home.

It’s efficiently designed with tons of room for storage and has our signature oversized windows and light-flooded, open-plan space on the ground floor.

The homes you see in this CGI – with modern grey, profiled metal façades – are the brand-new, two-bedroom Row House homes at Port Loop, Birmingham.

They feature 79 sq m of space across two storeys, a ground floor W/C as well as the large family bathroom, a private terrace, access to the residents' garden, and allocated parking.

Our modular Town House homes

What we wish more people knew about modular homes

We caught up with founder and creative director of the Urban Splash Group, Jonathan Falkingham MBE, to ask what he wishes more people knew about modular homes in the UK.

Jonathan said: “If you’re buying a brand-new car, you wouldn’t want to see it being built in a field, in the rain, with workers eating fish and chips in the passenger’s seat while it’s being built.

“With our homes you get the reassurance that they’re being built inside our clean, dry factory, with meticulous precision, in a controlled environment.”

This month's competition prize is a limited edition print entitled Gràcia by James D. Wilson

March competition: Tom Pigeon and The Make Bank

For this month’s competition, we’re teaming up with design studio, Tom Pigeon, and its social project dedicated to tackling creative poverty, The Make Bank.

We’re giving away Gràcia, a beautiful, limited edition print – that’s now completely sold out.

Read our new blog to learn more about our competition and to hear from Kirsty Thomas, the established designer behind the studio.
