Our homes are built inside the House by Urban Splash Factory using MMC (modern methods of construction). This means they are created off-site in a clean, dry, and controlled environment before they’re delivered to the neighbourhood and craned into place module by module (or storey by storey).

We started doing this back in 2016, when we created our first housing typology – the award-winning Town House. The first-ever Town House modules were delivered to our buzzing, central Manchester neighbourhood, New Islington – now a vibrant city centre hub.

On the day the modules arrived in Manchester, we all watched in amazement as the on-site team stacked them into place to form the first-ever House by Urban Splash homes.

Since then, we’ve applied our learning and implemented new techniques, transforming the initial version of Town House into what is now its third iteration.

Now 1,000 modules in, we’ve created hundreds of these homes across 10 neighbourhoods including New Islington in Manchester, Irwell Riverside in Salford, Smith’s Dock in North Shields, Inholm, Northstowe in Cambridgeshire, and Wirral Waters in Merseyside.

Our inhouse research facility, Future Lab, recently revealed that this latest version of Town House is now over 50% more energy efficient than the average, comparative new build home.

This is something that we can all be incredibly proud of as we continue our mission to further reduce our carbon footprint.

Reaching this point of our modular journey has been incredible – but we’ll never stand still.
