Seven benefits of choosing a modular home

15 October 2021

From adaptable layouts to saving the planet – here are the lifestyle benefits you can expect when you go modular

At House by Urban Splash, our homes are modular and built using modern methods of construction.

This means instead of relying on traditional building techniques, we utilise new developments, discoveries, and materials to create better quality homes for all.

Our homes are designed to boost wellbeing, encourage healthy living, and promote lifestyle benefits traditional housing will never be able to facilitate.

Considering joining the MMC revolution?

Here are seven benefits of choosing a modular home.

Our homes are adaptable allowing you to change your home layout as your circumstances evolve

01 — You can design and change the layout

Our homes are adaptable, so you can change your home’s layout as your life circumstances evolve.

The structural support is contained in the exterior walls allowing almost every internal wall to be moved or removed.

You can make room for a nursery or home office or remove a wall completely to enjoy a full-floor master suite or a spacious open-plan living space.

With selected homes, you can even be part of the design process before construction begins.

Our homes are built to higher quality standards in factory conditions

02 — High quality and precision reduces snags and stress

Building in a dry, clean factory is a much better than building outside while being blasted by British weather.

Our homes can be built to higher quality standards with fewer issues with cracking and drying, greater air tightness, and less shrinkage of materials (from changing temperatures) than those built on-site.

We’re also able to monitor every step of the process, check that the quality remains consistently high, and ensure each home is finished with meticulous precision.

This method of construction also results in less snags compared to traditional builds making it a less stressful process for buyers.

When it comes to design, due to accurate assembly, our homes don’t need dated crown molding between the wall and ceilings, giving each floor a crisp, modern aesthetic.

Our homes are transported to site and assembled by our on site team

03 — Quicker construction so you can move in sooner

With no restrictions on light or temperature (and no need to worry about an unpredictable snowstorm in the middle of May), you can expect quicker construction.

And as materials can be stored in bulk nearby, and can be delivered in more efficient quantities, we’re rarely waiting around for things – reducing the risk of delays.

This means you can plan your moving in day in advance, move into your new home in less time, save money on renting, and enjoy a less stressful moving home experience.

Our homes are designed to last every bit as long as traditional buildings

04 — They’re built to last

Our homes are designed to last every bit as long as traditional buildings.

Like any home, it’ll need to be looked after properly, but with a bit of TLC, it’ll last just as long – if not longer – than a regular house.

It’s also approved by BOPAS, a scheme jointly developed by The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Lloyd’s Register, and BLP Insurance.

Helping you to keep your monthly bills down

05 — Improved heating insulation to keep your monthly bills down

With our homes, there is no performance gap between design and construction. Better, tighter finishes, stop warm air from escaping, and this, combined with better insulation, reduces the amount of fuel you’re using to heat your home – helping you to keep your monthly bills down.

Better wall-to-wall and ceiling insulation

06 — Better soundproofing

Our homes don’t just meet UK soundproofing standards – they exceed them.

And that’s not just wall-to-wall, there’s better insulation in the ceilings too.

In fact, with modular homes, there’s a ceiling and a floor between each storey, increasing the soundproofing and creating a far more relaxing and harmonious environment inside the house.

Reducing our carbon footprint has always been important to us

07 — They help to save the planet

Managed quantities, controlled stock, and economic deliveries are just a few of the ways in which we reduce each home’s footprint. In fact, it takes 5 tonnes less CO2 to make 50 factory-build homes than the equivalent site-constructed homes.

Reducing our carbon footprint has always been important to us and factory-build homes perfectly suit our ethos.

The controlled conditions significantly reduce time, cost, transportation, and energy – and when it comes to general waste in our factory – 97.5% of it is recycled.

Our homes are also sustainably built and are fitted with eco-friendly features including rooftop solar panels.

Modular homes are the future of housing — they’re good for the planet, for the people who work in the construction industry, and for the homeowners. Choose your next home with House by Urban Splash and join the MMC revolution.
