We’ve delivered more of our award-winning homes to New Islington

    28 October 2020

As we near the end of our fascinating journey of transforming New Islington, it’s great to see more of our brilliant new homes being created here - including these 10 modular Town House homes which were delivered in just a couple of days.

The homes have been delivered to New Islington Marina, where we’ll be creating a total of 34 modular houses; we’re also onsite preparing the groundworks for 18 new homes at Stubbs Mews as well as a further two Mansion House apartment blocks. Created using modern methods of construction, Mansion House apartments are built using super sustainable cross laminated timber (CLT) and stand adjacent to the first Mansion House block which will soon complete, bringing 40 new homes to the area.

All this activity means that New Islington's a far cry from the Cardroom Estate of old; the area had an anti-social reputation with taxis refusing to drop off in the area and a fictional Frank Gallagher wandering the streets to further emphasise the dreary atmosphere. Fast-forward 20 years and it’s completely transformed, with a brilliant urban population of people living in our houses and apartments, as well as a great school, foodie scene and lots of outdoor space.

We’ve worked with Manchester City Council on each part of the New Islington story, taking scrappy pieces of land and transforming them using great design and innovation. The most recent example is at Piercy Street on the north eastern end of the neighbourhood. There, we created 17 Town House homes and revitalised the canalside; just one of the homes now remains on sale.

It’s great to see people recognising New Islington as a great place to live; these newest homes will be the final homes that we’ll create in the neighbourhood - so it really is the last chance to join the community/ We’ll be sharing more pictures as we continue our work.
